Welcome to the website of Image Processing Core Unit (IPCU). We are an integral part of the Saxonian Incubator for Clinical Research (SIKT) and we are working since its foundation in 2006 as a research group for image and data processing, statistical analysis and visualization. Therefore, we have an extensive experience in analysis, quantification, and visualization of multimodal, experimental data and we have planned, conducted and participated in a vast amount of research projects like tissue engineering, ophthalmology, dermatology and bioreactor development.
In the context of our research, we develop and implement highly specialized algorithms. The implemented methods are used as a library for our daily work, or they are sometimes packed as standalone software modules for our project partners. We work in a multi-platform setting, and almost all of our software runs on Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux. Most of our work is done in Mathematica (prototyping, pre-processing, analysis, ...), SPSS (statistical analysis), C/C++ and Java (parallel, time-critical algorithms), Blender and POV-Ray (visualization).
What we can do
- Acquisition of microscopic images with the 3DHistech Pannoramic Scan Full scans of histological slides at a magnification up to 40x
- Consultation regarding experimental design, image acquisition, optimization of imaging settings, data formats, and conversion
- Restoration and quality enhancement of noisy and distorted data
- Analysis and quantification of 1d signals, 2d/3d images, and image series
- Image and data registration, segmentation and classification
- Rapid prototyping
- Visualization of results and statistical analysis
- Development and implementation of sophisticated analysis algorithms
- Publication of research results
We already worked with data from
- Brightfield and fluorescence microscopy
- Optical coherence tomography (OCT)
- Confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM)
- Two-photon excitation microscopy
- Magnetic resonance tomography (MRI)
- Computed tomography (CT)
- LaTheta in vivo Micro-CT
- Single positron emission computed tomography (SPECT)
- Bone scintigraphy
- Ultrasound images
